October 2013 - Merchants Bank Celebrates Grand Opening of Downtown Bethlehem Branch

Bethlehem, PA - Merchants Bank celebrated the opening of its ninth and southernmost branch at 2 West Broad Street on Tuesday, September 24th. The event, held in conjunction with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, had many high points including: an opening ceremony by Town Crier, David Rose; remarks by Tony Ianelli, President and CEO of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Bethlehem City Councilman Bob Donchez; a visit by and a $500 donation to the Bethlehem Mounted Police Unit; an official ribbon cutting ceremony; and the unveiling of watercolorist Richard Bollinger’s original painting of the Colonial Industrial Quarter, entitled “Historic Bethlehem Autumnfest”. Free prints of Bollinger’s painting will be given out with new customer checking accounts.

Support from the business community for the Bank at this location was evident, with nearly 80 people in attendance at the event. “The positivity we’ve received throughout this process from first informing the community we were planning a presence in Bethlehem to comments about our window signs which encourages the public “to experience the difference”, has been very welcoming and exciting. We continue to feel embraced by the business and community leaders here in Bethlehem. We really couldn’t be more pleased,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Tracey Smith, who led the vision for the new branch.
