(Bangor, PA) – Tracey S. Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Merchants Bank, has received recognition as a Woman of Influence from Lehigh Valley Business. This prestigious inaugural awards program, held by a leading business publication in the Valley, recognizes women who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and the communities they serve. Tracey started with Merchants in 2002 and is currently responsible for directing the Bank’s operations and coordinating the senior management team in order to meet its organization’s goals.
Award winners needed to be nominated along with a narrative explaining why nominees should be considered. Tracey’s nomination letter included stories from female employees about her passions including employee empowerment, mentorship, hard work and promoting strong business ethics. As one employee stated:
“Tracey’s one of the most intelligent, dedicated, hard working women I have ever met both professionally and personally. She’s been an excellent mentor - giving me more opportunities than I could have ever imagined – and without her help, guidance and patience I would never have had these opportunities. She promotes an environment of doing the right thing whether it’s about the bank, a customer or an employee. Tracey will often state, ‘When I lay my head on my pillow at night, it’s important to me to know that I have been fair and have done the best job I could do.’ I know this is a very simple phrase for a very complex woman, but it sums her up perfectly.”
“At the Bank, we get to see Tracey’s contributions and energy every day. So we are very happy and proud that Tracey is being publicly recognized for her commitment to true leadership and excellence in our community,” said Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Biondi.
A luncheon awards ceremony to honor this year’s award recipients will be held May 21st at ArtsQuest. All of this year’s recipients will also be profiled in a special supplement of Lehigh Valley Business which will note their triumphs and challenges that shaped their careers and will also include nomination narratives.
