Bangor, PA) Merchants Bank recently donated $1,800 to nine area food banks, which found their supplies diminished by Hurricane Sandy and the holiday. To mark its fourth year in donating to the food banks, Merchants added two recipient organizations to their donation list, Safe Harbor in Easton and Family Life Community Church in Bangor. As an independent financial institution, the Board of Directors and employees of Merchants takes pride in its ongoing commitment to support the communities they serve, particularly in helping to fulfill the growing needs of our less fortunate neighbors.
Donations were also made to The Salvation Army, Families First, Saint Elizabeth’s/Saint Joseph’s Ministry, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pentecostal Christian Church, Benders Mennonite Church and Portland Upper Mt. Bethel Pantry (PUMP). The nine food banks provide food for Northampton County’s needy families.
Anthony Biondi, CEO and Director of Merchants Bank hopes the generosity of the bank is contagious to other area businesses, “I am proud to share that in 2012 our bank donated $120,000 to local not-for-profits as well as countless hours of volunteer time. For an organization our size, this is quite impressive. I hope the philanthropy of our bank and our employees inspires others to be selfless and give whatever they can in the coming year.”
