(Bangor, PA) Merchants Bank is proud to continue its support of the Slate Belt Heritage Center by sponsoring the printing of their most recent book, “From the Slate: O’r Llechen – The Welsh and the Folk Art of Pennsylvania’s Slate Belt”. The book, written by John Reinhart, Superintendent of Bangor Area School District, is the fourth in a series of ten books that the Center has planned for publication. A different aspect of the heritage of the Slate Belt is the focus of each book.

(Bangor, PA) Merchants Bank recently hosted guided tours of its Main Office in Bangor for fourth grade students from area schools. The tours are an annual event at Merchants, held in conjunction with Community Banking Week. Over 250 students, plus chaperons and teachers, enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of banking operations. Merchants Bank’s Thomas C. Moore, Jr., Banking Officer and Facilities Manager, and Carol J. Fedon, retired Merchants Bank Branch Manager, conducted the tours and explained the various areas of the Bank, including the vault and teller area. Each student was given a piggy bank and pencil as a gift from Merchants.
